Rinmye (pronounced rin-myeh), or Mye, is a slightly shorter-than-average angel. He can seem rather different from most angels - his feathers tend to lean more towards red and pink than pale yellow, and his feathers are... incredibly scruffy. In general, Rinmye is scruffy. He accepts being preened by others, but never does it by himself.
If there's one thing that Rinmye is almost always seen with, it's a smile and his camera. His second head seems to always be twisting around, trying to look at everything. If he isn't walking, he's generally trying to carry both his staff and his camera. (If he is walking, he generally puts the staff away, keeping the camera with him.) The staff is smooth, and made of a dark-coloured wood from some planet whose name he has forgotten. Like every angel, the top of the staff has the names of lost friends, and the bottom of the staff has the names of those who have wronged him.
Due to how much he wanders, Rinmye actually has quite a few scars, scattered about his body. The most noticeable one is that Rinmye only has five wings. One of his right wings, the one usually folded across the body, was bitten off at some point in his past.
Rinmye almost always seems to keep his head glowing, more so than most angels. Of course, he can't always consciously keep it glowing, but it's usually bright enough to be used as a lamp.
Above all else, Rinmye tries to be a polite angel, speaking in a rather formal-sounding manner. Like with most of his species, he generally prefers to stay alone, but he doesn't mind staying with a crew for a short while. However, as he always tries to warn them, he cannot stay in one place, in one ship, for that long. Rinmye is generally encountered while he is flying through space. This, of course, gives him many more opportunities to get a good shot of something.
Unlike most angels, Rinmye seems to be almost obsessed with photography. Many photos of space are actually from him, and his five centuries of life have resulted in thousands of photos, of many locations. If he were to join a crew, it'd only be to see if he could get any good photos of their destination. Many know Rinmye only as the name that's attached to his photos, or as the scruffy angel who flew into their ship and politely asked where they might be going.
Despite how polite he usually is, there are a few things that could potentially utterly ruin a friendship with Rinmye. The first one, and the most important one, is touching him. While he may accept a 'handshake' or a very brief hug, Rinmye will generally screech even if one were to simply tap his shoulder without permission. He usually tries to warn people about this, but not everyone would listen.
Secondly, Rinmye has a hatred of the Poetnix. Overall, he does hate the limbo gods, being a limboist, but he seems to hate the Poetnix the most. He is a strong believer in the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, or, rather, a photo is worth ten thousand words. He prefers things to be straightforward, and has a tendency to insult the Poetnix, seemingly at random. His hatred of the Poetnix and their writing may be the entire cause of his obsession with taking pictures.
Thirdly, Rinmye has a dislike of clumsiness. He can accept that a person may seem to trip all the time, but he tends to refuse to stay for long around them. Other than these dislikes, Rinmye is actually quite pleasant to talk to, although he may get distracted by the opportunity for a photo.
Rinmye has a tendency to refuse to give a detailed description of his history, preferring to show some of his earliest photos. However, some of his history can be learnt from the things he has said.
For starters, he had a rather generic angel 'childhood'. After he left his parent, he started wandering more. Not much is known about this point in his life, but, when he was "possibly around a century and a half", Rinmye ended up joining a crew. It was around then that he obtained a camera, and then that he learnt more about the limbo gods. One of his crewmembers from then mentioned once that he ended up taking photos of almost everything shortly after he learnt how to use his camera. This was most likely the beginning of his interest in photography.
From around when he was two hundred to when he was three hundred years old, Rinmye started taking an almost-absurd amount of photos, mainly of space. This is where most of his more famous photos come from. At some point near to the start of this period of his life, Rinmye also left his first crew, deciding to spend more time wandering, searching for better things to photograph. He has commented before that he misses that crew, occasionally, but that he "honestly consider(s) it to be for the best".
Most of Rinmye's scars are generally not elaborated on by him. However, he has published the photos that explain where his missing sixth wing went. Quite simply, he was trying to take some photos of a spacedwelling beast, but got too close. He has said that he will try to not make the same mistake in the future.
Other than those events, Rinmye tends not to say much about his past, or even about events that have recently happened. Some try to collect all the stories behind all his photos, but, with how many he's taken, this has proven to be almost impossible.
None.
• Despite the fact that angels generally have no gender, Rinmye is always insistent that people refer to him with male pronouns.
• His hatred of the Poetnix tends to fluctuate. One minute, he might hate them as equally as he hates all the other gods, but the next, he may suddenly declare that the Poetnix is much worse than even the Neo.
• Although he loves his camera, and always tries to have it fixed as soon as possible if it's broken, Rinmye will be quite offended if someone tries to imply that he doesn't value his staff as much.
• 'POETNIX' is written twice at the bottom of his staff. This is actually a mistake, but Rinmye hasn't tried to fix it yet.
