Physical Description

Elegia is a shorter than average vocangen, standing just under five-and-a-half feet in height, and possessed of a rather gloomy and sullen exterior, impressively so given the limited expressability of her suit.

Like all vocangen, she wears a fully-enclosed safety suit. Over her suit she wears a rather elaborately designed short off-the-shoulder blue dress, embellished with all manners of frivolous ribbonry, and imagery evoking butterflies, webs, and flowers. The whole thing is "tastefully" torn at the thigh, revealing much of her legs.

Her suit's helmet, rather unusually, features a limitedly expressive face-plate, consisting of simply two simple eyes, under each of which is a carved tract representing "tears" giving her a somewhat exaggeratedly sullen expression. Its covered in a multitude of blue tassels to emulate long hair, and she has a number of butterfly themed adornments pinned onto them.

Personality

A quite dour and depressive individual, generally untrusting of people, even to those she knows. She's quiet, and often refuses to talk directly to people she hasn't met beforehand, usually utilizing some sort of proxy, typically her manager, to handle those sorts of things. She's sometimes found not using her voice at all outside of rehearsals and performances.

Many mistake this as "Typical aloof diva behavior", but that is far from the reality of the situation. Elegia is, in fact, deeply troubled and wounded, by certain events beyond her ability to alleviate. It's not fully clear what these events are, as the one thing above all which Elegia is loathe to discuss about, are the aforementioned events, or even their direct consequences.

One thing that is clear, is that these events have left her bitterly cynical about the nature of life. On those such rare occasions when one does coax her to open up about such things, one might find themselves wishing they hadn't. Elegia has a habit of dragging those poor unfortunates that attempt to get close to her into her own pool of misery. She generally has a low opinion of the assorted religious groups that exist in the universe in particular, Limboist, Obmilist, or the myriad of smaller organizations, she has little but scorn though.

Not for a lack of belief in what they discuss, mind, on the contrary, she is incredibly receptive to the notion that such things exist. As this was not the case before a particular incident most assume that that incident involved certain anomalous events but Elegia is in her manner, unlikely to discuss it. As a consequence she's taken a number of odd habits, most presume, to avoid a similar such tragedy in the future.

Underneath this gloomy, embittered, mildly paranoid, exterior, one might find the last dying embers of Elegia's former self. Mostly by insistence of her manager, one of the few people familiar with her from before that particular incident, Elegia is/was a charming, bright, hardworking individual. And while she is still very hardworking, some would say too much so, one would have to dig very deep indeed to find any real evidence that she's any sort of warm.

History

Elegia, is a dour, somber, and immensely troubled individual these days, but, by word of her manager, she was not always so.

In the past, once upon a time, she was the bright and shining rising star of what some called "A deeply miserable and self-important music industry". Elegia came from a place of misery, and desolation, as many vocangen do, and was determined to preach a message of hopeful optimism the only way she knew how: Music.

At first things went rather... mixed. Despite that many music critics deride a problem of "A pretentious obsession with self-importantly whiny introspection" just as many critics found her optimistic and light-hearted manner to be, in the words of the lightest critic "Vapid white-noise for an easily influenced mass audience." Nevertheless, she persevered, and indeed, through sheer dogged determination managed to weasel her way into the hearts of all but the most bitterly minded critics.

But still, the music industry is cruel and taxing, especially to those with a genuine sense of ideals. Elegia was known to struggle at keeping a positive outlook against the weight of expectations and industry demands. In these sorts of environs strange and desperate things can happen to the brightest of stars.

Its still unclear what exactly occurred on that day. It was in the late evening, and it was particularly stormy, Elegia's manager had stepped out, evidently as the two had some manner of argument, when that incident occurred. Strange, and unexplainable phenomena gripped the atmosphere, and bizarre and anomalous things were reported to appear. Taskforces were scrambled, and people briefly entered into a panic, but, after a period of no more than half an hour, everything stopped, quite suddenly.

When Elegia was found, she was the only survivor of something that had killed everyone else in the building. For three entire months after she refused to sing, speak, or even leave the room she lodged in for the period. When she finally left, and further, when she finally started making public appearances again, she was never the same, usually refusing to speak about anything but the most relevant details to her her future appearances, and certainly never about that event.

Special

La Canzone Blu: Elegia's dark and mournful songs have a bizarre and most would say anomalous affect on the local environs, as well as the people in them. Storms are churned up where she things, black clouds appear, and burst with rain, in a strange reflection of the moods expressed by the songs. The audience will be compelled to emotion, more so than naturally so, being driven into an odd state of elation and greatest sorrow. Reportedly some people drop dead on the spot for reasons which are medically dubious.

Trivia

• Despite everything, Elegia has never been more popular. Indeed she is probably more popular now than she ever was happy. L'art est souffrant one supposes.

• Despite her popularity and wide appeal, Elegia is banned on certain planets due to the unfortunate effects of her singing, and allegations that she might be some sort of anomaly. Elegia, naturally, did not respond to these sorts of allegations, but pointedly avoids certain individuals.

• Elegia and apidee Idol Queen Bae were reportedly friends at one point. After that event their friendship quickly eroded as Elegia reportedly found her "Empty-headed peppiness", deeply annoying.
