A small creature similar to a wasp or bee, except blue, and covered with fine yellow marking. It has a small head with two pairs of narrow yellow eyes, and a quartet of wings on it's back. It's most prominent feature is its large stinger, which it uses to feed and fight with.
Like most creatures from Oerson, arc wasps derive sustenance from light, they supplement this with the ability to drain electrical energy via their stinger. While historically, utilized this by feeding off of living organisms bio-electricity, modern specimens content themselves by draining power generators, electronics, and sometimes robots, and are generally harmless, even in large groups, to organics, except of course if that organic is relying on some device for survival, or they're starved which is not uncommon when found on planets with long nights and short days.
They tend to group in swarms, centered around one or more 'queens' with dozens or hundreds of drones, and occasionally migrate between planets, generally due to being ousted by some other group.
Blood Wasp: An attempt to engineer an aggressive, predatory strain for use in warfare, the blood wasp succeeds too well. It's uncontrollable violent, and thirsty for, well, blood. Distinguished physically from it's more amicable cousin by it's blood red coloration and serrated stinger, it is a danger to all organics and should be avoided at all costs.
Electrovore: Arc wasps primarily feed on electricity, whether from robots, machines, ships, or organic beings.
• Arc wasps originate on the planet Oerson. Wasps from there tend to be the electrovore equivalent of 'vegan'. That is, unlike their widespread cousins, who prefer to feed on inorganic things, they prefer to do things the old fashioned way, feeding on the bio-electricity of other creatures and plants.
