It’s because everyone on the ship has to be dead by now. There’s no signs of anyone trying to set up farms, no way to get power. All the people likely aged or starved to death, and no AI could still be operating for 1000s of years without power or maintenance. It’s just an automatic transmission, surprised it hasn’t died yet actually, might be solar powered now that I think about it. Basically there’s nothing left to save in the ship. Even if anyone cared.
