Dus'te Rain'gur

[Dus'te cannot understand Sbat's sign language and tilts her head in confusion.]
Err, sorry, I don't understand. You know it is funny how we managed to train Pipsqueak without ever speaking a word to each other!
[Sbat tries to say something, but stops, realizing there's nothing he can say. The room gives way to an endless and awkward silence.]

Oh, Helios! Welcome back once more! We just finished up our conversation!

Ah, good to hear. I guessed I should stay out of the conversation, which is why I left.

Understandable, but I would have been ok with you listening! Not only are you a knowledge god and would know all the going ons, but I would not have minded sharing those details with you anyway. You are my friend, after all.

Now that we're all relaxed and got some tough conversations out of the way, I do have a few questions to ask. Like you both know Mors is up to something shady. I mean, she faked the whole killing the sun god thing!

W-What?

I knew. I figured it was too good to be accurate and did a little checking. The sun god still lives. Mors just wants us not to panic.

Mors is also kind of feeding all the sun gods to the sun gods.

What?

For what reason does she commit murder?

Mors wants to.....I guess feed sad people to the Sun god so that it kills itself.

That's dark.

And rather evil!

Yeah, and she fed v3 Apollo to the Sun god because he was in the original shell of v1 Apollo! Now, v3 has control over the Sun god, and he's super pissed off because well, I guess I ruined his life.....multiple times.

We ruin MOST of the lives of those who we send to Fortuna. In a way, it is no surprise that a mortal who has gained the power of vast knowledge would be rather cross with our treatment of the mortals as simple game pieces. He has a right to be angry, but the murder of others invalidates his actions.

So, I'm going to be fed to the Sun god?

I won't let it happen!

..............

But maybe it should.

Helios, you're the knowledge god, you know better than anyone else that a spoiled snack won't bring the Sun God any closer to death.

But I don't know that peon.

You've been a great help to me, Helios. This plan to try to stop the Sun God wouldn't have gotten as far as it has without your help. I'm not feeding you to the Sun God.

I know you wouldn't peon, but would it be your choice? Mors who holds power over the ruler of the AIs, Cronus, would be the one to make that choice, and I do not know why she would spare me if she does not intend to spare the others.

Well, maybe we can kick Mors and Cronus from power! After all, it was Mors who sent Apollo to assassinate them both!

Everyone knew that Student. Both of them died, and Cronus and Mors just happen to be in the area to take over? It was obvious what happened.

Mors ordered them both to death!?!

Well, everyone but Kratos knew.

I intend to have a conversation with Mors as soon as this game is over! Mors must understand that just because she wished for Cronus to take leadership that murder is not the correct way to go about it. I know the throne of the Greeks and Romans is a hostile event filled with takeovers, but death is not on the menu even in such an aggressive political system like this!

Mors is not going to listen to you, Kratos.

I understand that all I can do is plant the seeds of question as it is unlikely that anyone will be able to overthrow her at this point. As you said, apparently everyone knew, and little concerns have been raised about this!

Zeus and Jupiter weren't precisely popular gods. I much prefer Cronus myself, and he's on the side of the person attempting to feed me to the Sun God.

Even if people cared about the murders, there is the issue of the legal loophole.

Hm right. Apollo did not kill either god. Instead it was an accident.

The legality of all of this doesn't matter anyway. What matters is that Mors has power, and if she wants to capture me, there's nothing any of us can do to stop it.

I'll stop her if I have to.

That's kind of you peon, but I believe it is time to face the facts. You must start preparing for my departure. You cannot protect me from everyone, nor do I want you to take that burden for me.

But if you stay my patron-

If I stay your patron, they will come for you and may hurt both you and whatever other patrons you have at the time. I think there is a rather logical step for what must be done.

Even if........

I would prefer not to do it.

...You know you're the best teacher I could've asked for, right, Helios?

Thank you.... peon.

By the end of this game, I will be gone, but let us make this a good final moment. I'm sure I will be the last sun god Mors goes after. Mors knows I will put up no fight. In fact, I am willing to work with her, but if I am going to die, I wish to spend the last of my years surrounded by my horses.

This is an ad.
