Do watch out though co-player, you can fail a stat check and depending on the situation it can end badly. See all those times Cea flirted, when he failed the other characters disliked him a little bit more, it's possible that that made any other stat checks impossible. Use them when you're sure you have a good chance of passing it, otherwise, for example, you can fail an intelligence check and blow up a whole ship. A bad charisma check can get a whole town hunting your crew. A horrible agility check could break a leg, and so on. There is one type of stat check that breaks all the rules though.

The disgusting luck check is the WORST of all stat checks. It's the one Fortuna is always rolling for, and that's because unlike other stat checks they're not based on skill, it's just random garbage. Your luck stat sways it a bit, but even then you still have a good chance of failing. The luck checks should ONLY be used in the most extreme of cases. Such as, your character is suddenly thrown in to icy waters while naked. Your character doesn't have a high enough endurance to survive this, but oh wait, your character does a luck check and lands a solid 20. Suddenly a helicopter appears out of nowhere and saves your character out of pure luck.

It's basically a bunch of BULL! You can luck check almost ANYTHING. Your character doesn't know a thing about engines and has 1 intelligence? Well look at you, you rolled a 20 in a luck check so your character JAMS A HAMMER IN TO IT AND IT JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE JUST THE RIGHT FIX FOR THE ENGINE. Character smells like a pig and looks like one too? LOOK AT THAT 20 LUCK ROLL LAND THAT CHARACTER A 100 DATES BECAUSE, HAHAHAHAHA HARD WORK CAN JUST ABOUT THROW ITSELF OUT THE WINDOW.

Basically what I'm trying to say co-player is that, luck rolls are like Eris. Completely random and nonsensical. Frustrating to be around and they never understand what you want. They normally cause everything to go wrong and then you have to clean up the mess, but sometimes, just sometimes, they do something ....nice.....like.....you never expected them to be so nice to you. Maybe you start thinking to yourself....maybe you really like the luck rolls. AND THEN THEY MAKE A PILE OF ALLIGATORS SPAWN OUTSIDE OF YOUR WINDOW AND REMOVE ANY NICE FEELINGS YOU HAD ABOUT THEM.

Then there are stat checks, they are like me. They work hard, they have meaning and story behind them. They're the people you can depend on to have your back when the going gets tough co-player. Believe in stat checks, not luck rolls.
