[Shop - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time]

Teaming up with an alien that they found, G-1094 trails through the inner city, finally spotting a creature that had escaped. A kafkil. An odd sort of pet, one created by the betrayal of a friend for legal reasons. It was anomalous, a word for something not understood, and assumed to be aligned with the gods.

But it was not unguarded. A chain was around its foot. L-429, the notail they had met before stood before it. She spins around to face the duo. "Ah, hey there buddy! How's the hunting going? Have you found your boss yet? >w<"

"Hello! I have not, no, but... you... have one of our creatures?"

"Can I have it back? <:)?"

"One of your creatures? I don't see a tag on it, pal! You can't capture a wild animal, let it out, and claim it's yours now."

"Buuuuuuuuuuut, maybe we can have a little bit of a trade, you know what trading is right? Exchanging one thing, for another."

"It... does look like a very nice kafkil." They do not know what makes a good or bad kafkil. They are simply agreeing. "What do we need to do for you to get it from you <:)?"

A pause. They motion towards Gloria and adds "Included with us. Agreed to help... <:)." They laugh a little, sheepish. It was a little embarrassing how they had first reacted to this alien.

L-429 looks confused at the alien. She pauses. "That thing is going to help you? What is that? It looks like an animal! >w<"

"I don't know. What are you <:)?" G-1094 turns to Gloria.

The pacoose seems unphased by what, in most parts of space, would be a truly gormless question. If she knew as little as these two seemed to, she may well've struck up conversation with the thornhead instead!

"I'm Gloria, loves."

"There I was, enjoying a little window-shopping while my wife ran errands in the south of town, when a big old racket came and I found this little lost thing." She gestures at G-1094.

"Still trying to do shopping in the ruins of this city?"

"In truth, sounds a little like a scam, but I know notails aren't much in the business of bringing harm down on other notails. If the little one's amenable, then I'll help them out!"

They come back to awareness at the offer. "Yes! We can do that! Will we know what it is when we see the stuff <:)?"

"Oh you'll know when you see it. Your mind is going to go blank. You're going go crazy, just like everyone else who used to live in this city."

"Ah but if you don't find it, honestly that's ok too! I really don't want to feed this kafkil, so if you find me anything that's cool and valuable to sell, I'd be more than happy with that! >w<"

"Oh, how exciting!" Gloria clicks her hooves in anticipation.

L-429 holds out a large bolt cutter to the duo. "You two might want these, hoo! It'll help you break into buildings!"

"Mind you, we are not breaking into buildings. >w<"

"Which is why you two are doing it."

"I mean, come on, it's abandoned buildings! It shouldn't be illegal to open them up and loot them! >w<"

Ok, they're a little intimidated now. It'll be ok, though! They've got this Gloria (kinda an odd alien name, it reminded them of that John Rodriguez sort) to help them, so everything will be ok! Just stay with the pack, and everything's fine! They take the bolt cutters from the smaller egg-born notail. "Okay. Probably only a small crime! Just a little crime. A tiny bit of crime. It never hurt anybody. <:)." They nod, sheepish.

"They're called victimless crimes, love! If anything, you'll be making un-victims out of it if we can find it, and you get your kafkil back."

"You two have fun, I'll be waiting right here! Unless you don't come back within three hours. Than I'm considering you KIA. >w<"

With all the information they needed, the duo heads out to look for unlooted buildings. A few stick out to them.

The first is a building with strange markings outside of it. They can see from a window something shifting slightly, alive.

The second building seems to be a store. It's locked up rather tightly and the duo worries if the bolt cutters will survive such heavy protection.

The last building is an apartment block. It is rather simple and plain compared to the other two.

Alright! Game time, G-1094! They scan the area, looking around. "The first building looks like there's something inside. Maybe it's another animal?"

"I don't think we should try the second one first, the bolt cutters..." They click them a few times, wincing. "I don't think thats a fight they can win!"

"And then there's the apartment block. It doesn't seem special <:)."

"Or, it's another alien like myself, loves. In which case it is most certainly not abandoned, and like, a super-duper crime if we do try to break in there."

"And the second, well.... if it's just your bolt-cutters you're worried about, then I can think of using my ladylike wiles instead... but most people don't tend to lock something unless they're planning to come back to open it later."

"Right, loves. And if it turns out the place isn't abandoned, we can just apologise and leave. Good manners and a little charm can get you a long way!"

"Right! Lets go, then <:)!" With that, G-1094 leads the way to the locked down store.

G-1094 tries to clip the locks on the door but the bolt cutters are no match for it. Anymore pressure and it'll break for sure.

Gloria does outpace the notail pretty handily as soon as they're moving, being quite a bit larger. She'd like to take a look at whatever's securing the door or other entryways... maybe some of the metal is a little cheaper, a piece or two less durable against stresses?

Gloria tries to look for another way into the shop. The windows are barred, and even if broken, it would be hard for either her or G-1094 to fit in through the openings. A creature hops up to the window's display area and scowls at the duo. It says nothing, but the message is clear. It knows they want into the store, and it has no want in the world to let them in.

"Ah! Hello! The store wasn't abandoned after all!"

G-1094 instinctively tries to ping a message to Gloria, before remembering that Gloria is a Gloria, not a notail. "...I don't think we're getting in here. The cutters are about to break with these chains."

A beat. "Though, maybe when we return to the other notails, they would like to know about this..?" They ask, glancing towards the creature, then back at Gloria.

The creature within the store flicks its tail. It's small, no bigger that a foot tall, and it walks on all fours. It flashes its teeth in warning to the duo, though with such a small mouth, the chance of damage was minimal.

Honestly, both parties didn't know what it actually was. It did seem to be some sort of animal, but jumping to conclusions could lead to social stumbles.

...They do not believe Gloria, but they are going to play along, because they have only have so much time. "Ok. I still think we should tell the other notails. Just in case. Now lets go to the apartment block, yeah <:)?"

With renewed vigor, they set off again, this time towards the apartments to hopefully actually get in somewhere, and get something!

When they arrive, they lower themself down, and attempt to break the lock on the first door they can reach.
The door breaks with ease. The duo enter the apartment. Entering the first door they spot they're greeted by......

It spoke. But it was clearly a gwetch, a type of animal dressed as a notail.

"We're trying to get back one of my bosses dogs. Another notail wanted to engage in space capitalism for it <:)." This is clearly just a weird notail, like the egg one.

Gloria could absolutely "pop off" here about how there's no shortage of 'notail-styled' stealing that's really no better than what aliens do, but she's mostly just vibing right now.

They heavily consider pointing out the fact the other notail looks like a gwetch. But they do not, because that is rude, and that is still a notail. Hopefully? That would make them look really stupid if they didn't realize they're talking to a dog.

The "notail" drags itself across the floor and up to the window. It points towards the building with the symbols on it and the store. "Break into one of those, and drag out whatever creatures live in there! I just need to take a photo of them. You do that for me, and I'll give you this hideous "money" that you want. I mean, you two are already experts at crime it seems. ^w^"

The door to the strange building is opened. As soon as it rocks back something large and black stands in the way, as if it was awaiting, it knew that this moment would come. It holds out a small golden apple for G-1094. "Neigh."

Gloria snorts back in excitement. "Ok, this one is probably an animal!"

Ok, now this is weird. This is really weird. They look towards Gloria, and then back at the thing, before starting backing up, making clicking noises, trying to lure it out and to get it to follow them.

Gloria opens the door again, and trots round behind the creature to give it a gentle push out the door.
Gloria rolls a 20 sided die. A 14 is rolled.
Gloria pushes the creature out into the open streets.

"Neigh........"

????
Once moved to the streets, the creature lays down on its side and retracts its limbs into its sheets. It goes silent, and stops moving.

"Good good! Come along, duck." Gloria gently grabs the creature's ear in her mouth, and tries to cajole it along back toward the apartment.

"What an absolutely interesting creature!" The "notail" excitedly runs around it, clusmly using its claws to take pictures of it. I'll bag this one up to investigate! Thank you for your work. Take this card filled with points. I don't think I'll need it! ^w^" The notail holds out the reward as it excitedly shakes its tail.

Ok. This is happening. They take the point card. "Thank you <:)." They also make sure they have picked up the golden thing. The bigger the bribe, the better, they think!

"Actually, I'm wondering if I can take this sweetie pie home with me. You said you just needed pictures, after all...."

The "notail" slaps the sheet. "Absolutely not! I got more tests to do with this! Look, maaaaaybe if you come back once I'm done, I'll consider but just don't expect this thing to be all in one piece. Hahaha! ^w^"

"Hmm! Well, I've rather got my sights set on it, so I'll have to abide! Perhaps to keep it a fair trade though, I'll have to leave you in as many pieces as the beastie... well, toodle-oo!"
The duo have to accept this, and leave with their loot, with their point card they should easily be able to bribe L-429.
The first pet out of many will soon be caught.
