[Critical Role - The Adventure Begins...]
Rat_King
After a day of searching for answers to a person, discovering a man had a body in a fridge, and dealing with a dragonkin stabbing said person with the body in their fridge repeatedly, Rat_King needed a break from the planet. There's only so much missing person cases a layman can handle, and frankly, he didn't want to deal with supplies, Drakkens, or any other vampwelves right now. There was at least one place he and Rum, and the rest of his gathered party could safely reside for the time being, however, and spend it in good company.

The Fey Woods.

A place the strange, bizzarre, and otherwise unnatural could reside in relative peace, and a place one could head the flights of whimsy for a time. Take on titles of heroes long past, real or otherwise. With beasts fed, blades in tow, steel sharpened, bananas peeled, and medical supplies on hand for any true beasts of woe and ruin they might encounter, the five 'adventurers' could take their strides in confidence. Who knows what could lurk in the shadows and underbrush, or what other wanderers they might find hidden in the depths others would cower from?

As the party made their final preparations, their studied monk, Silent Waters, readied their claws, feeling the weight on their hands, and adjusting them to best sit to where he might swing next. Once satisfied, the slung their pack over their shoulders, resting it on their back before calling out to the rest of their allies.

"Everyone have their supplies ready? Don't think we'll have a chance to head back to town for a resupply for the foreseeable future."
Ronin
'Ronin' dusted off their padded leather and put a hand onto one of the daggers at their side, and another at their hip "Yessir, I'm set as I'll ever be."
Ronin
"...but I still can't believe that you convinced me to do this."
Ronin
They immediately perked up again. "I'm sure we'll have fun though!"
Silent Waters
They give Ronin a side glance, taking a spot to rest for the time being on one of the many trees at the forest's edge. "There's always a time for a bit of mirth and merriment despite troubled circumstances. As long as we keep a leveled head and our ears and eyes open, we should be alright."
Silent Waters
"Besides, I can't lie. I was curious to see what you'd come up with." He gives the daemon a sly smile.
Keira
Keira sat between the two, holding nothing but the peel of a banana. She lacked any gear herself but her position was not one that used such. "I have all I need."
Everwood
A far more foreign face of the group, currently undergoing the title of 'Everwood', was positioned a bit farther back. A claw dusts through her pockets as she checks one final time. She was rather grateful to have been picked up to attend...this! Especially considering how sore she was from.

Last time.

"I think I'm all set, dears!" She calls over. "If not, we'll handle it when it's needed!"

...She only dreads this doesn't go wrong.

With everyone ready, Silent Waters gives a nod. "If all are well, then we should be good to follow the young wizard's instructions here shortly."

"Just.... someone else might need to hold the map. I'm afraid these claws would cut into ribbons if I tried to hold it." He makes a loose gesturing motion with his weapons of choice.

The group looks over the map they had been provided. The instructions said they were to look for a "Blessing." It does not elaborate on what it could be. The locations on the map are as followed.

  1. Ruins of a House von Blakk outpost

  2. Random staircase to nowhere???? (Saw Dawn Knights near it)

  3. Fey Arena (Careful! They might make you fight a scary guy here!)

  4. Waterfall (Just don't bother the fey women!)

  5. Seeeeecret Federation base but they suck at hiding it. Not like you idiots would risk it I guess?

"......A federation base? Is this kid serious?"
Silent Waters
"Perhaps. Though, not that you or I would be able to step inside, with our history. Especially yours."
Keira
"She probably thinks you guys want to escape. Actually Everwood here probably would want to." She motions lightly to the fourth party member.
Silent Waters
"Honestly? Good on the young wizard for guiding others to a path of liberty. It is a noble recommendation."
Everwood
"...I would. I've got little ones to get home to." She simply admits.

"But that does not determine where this party goes today. I'm here as company, not as guidance!"

"I mean, I WOULD like off on this planet, but, fucking abyss I am NOT breaking into that place, personally."
Everwood
"What matters to ME, dears, is you all not dying! Oooorrr being tortured. Hehe. So perhaps not the federation for just today."
Ronin
"Good choice."
Keira
"I mean I'm just a little queenzabeth, I travel wherever. Teehee."
Silent Waters
Silent Waters turns towards Everwood. "If you have little ones to go back to, then we could at least guide you to the edge of their outpost, yes? I do not mind taking a detour. Otherwise, I would not mind seeing about this 'arena'."

"Like I said," 'Everwood' continues, though she does look up at Silent Waters and present a large, fanged grin. "I do not want any of you being injured trying to bring me somewhere! That's just silly."

"Perhaps at the end of our adventure today, you can all see me off in that direction? I'd say the arena might be worth looking into."

"Very well then! We can talk about our exploits among the ring then on the way to their base."
Silent Waters
"Or at the least, the tales of glory from whoever might be in there." Their course set, Silent Waters begins the march to the arena, occasionally looking back to their companions for this journey to make sure they are following behind.
Ronin
Ronin gives an eyebrow raise and a chuckle. "Well, I trust you, but if you kill me, I hope you know I'll kill you myself in the afterlife. Maybe I'll haunt ya."
Everwood
"Hopefully I can...prevent, that!" Wren squawks as she moves to follow the group.

They shrugged and gave a joking, dismissive wave. "Eh, he'll be fine, he's done dumber shit and lived."

"Err alright I suppose? It should be alright to check it out." Keira flaps her wings, flying a couple feet off the ground behind the others.
The party heads to the fey arena.

As the group nears the arena, they peer over into the pit the feys had built. Three feys hold hands, valiantly protecting each other from their opponent. A clear, smelly liquid has pooled in the arena. Booze.

Lulove
"Oh I haven't had so much fun in awhile!" Lulove sung, nursing a bottle of alcohol under her arm. One of the feys breaks formation, attempting an attack. Lulove grins before pulling out a lighter.
She holds it in front of her mouth and breaths. A stream of fire lights up the pit.
Fey of Craft
The other two climb the walls of the arena to escape, but the last one uses the fire to their advantage. Tying a rag to their spear they set it ablaze, charge, and throw it at the dragonkin.

"Quick on your feet, but I got more than just that!" Lulove snaps her hand. It twists into something foul and dark. A limb that did not belong to the body she existed in. She uses it as a shield against the spear before extending it across the arena, flinging the Fey of Craft to the other end.
Fey of Silence
The lead fey jumps down to protect its friend. It makes an X with its arms and kneels in acceptance.
Swift Vigilance
Swift Vigilance beats upon a bell. "AND THE WINNER FOR THIS MATCH IS THE DRAGONKIN!!!"

"DAMMIT! THERE WERE THREE OF YOU, HOW'D YOU LOSE TO ONE GUY?"
Flower Trove
"One fey of power could beat a 100 who don't even have a name, child."
Fey of Mourning
The Fey of Mourning had ignored the fight, instead focusing on those who had arrived. "Do you come to see this disgrace of body today?"

"Oh shit. You guys came to the arena?"

"HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU IDIOTS GOING TO REJECT LEAVING WITH THE FEDERATION, GEEZ!"

Silent Waters instinctively reals back at first from the initial lick of flame, the blood in his wires wishing not to draw near. The twitching of parts unfitting to a familiar face causing them second thought as well. Being addressed, however, they turn to the others calling out to them.
Ronin
"Is that- what is she doing here? And the kid?" 'Ronin' stared at the situation, mouth slightly agape.
Silent Waters
"We have our reasons to not go, so we followed your map to this location first. If it's any consolation, we were going to head there next."
Everwood
"I very much feel I'm not supposed to be here for this..."

An awkward noise to clear her throat is given. "Yes, apologies for that, dear! I'm actually going to be departing that way after all's said and done. This is certainly...you certainly have a setup here!"

"Oh, well in that case I won't call you stupid. Kick back and enjoy the arena if you want. Feys fight for names and titles around here, or just train with fey women."

"Besides, it is unbecoming of an adventurer to pass up a quest. You needed of us a blessing?" He addressed the young wizard, doing his best to avert his gaze towards the Arena for now.

"Yeah, I need a blessing, but I don't know what that possibly means, and this idiot over here said something like "it is the journey that will bring you life" or something stupid like that."

Lulove climbs the ladder out of the arena pit. "Looks like that's another round for me! Hahahaha!" She says, swinging a bottle in the air.

When she sees the others, she pauses. "Oh my goodness, you guys are here......."

"Lu! I-I mean, It's good to see you feeling better, but are you alright from that fight?"

"Sorry, I just wanted a way to cheer up after all that drama, and I heard there might be a place to wrestle with some fey in the woods, and well...hahaha!"

"I am a fey woman after all, so I figured, why not!"
Everwood
"Do you know this one, friends?" A curious glance is cast to her group before shifting to look back at the scene.
Lulove
"I was worried I'd have to fight....." Lulove glances at the fey of Mourning and Growth. "....stronger feys, but they just got me fighting the weak ones."
Lulove
"None of them have names!..................Not that I would want to steal a name, I mean, what would I do with such a thing!"
Lulove
"But they did offer me booze! So......If I seem a bit drunk that's why!"
Lulove
"I was worried I'd get so drunk they'd defeat me sooner or later but it's been ooooh five rounds now, and I'm still in it!"

"Sorry, am I talking too much....?"
Lulove
"I'm just a little excited!" She says, litarally jumping up and down. "So there's like, so much on my mind! Much to think about, you know?"

"Another friend of yours I presume?" Keira asks Silent Waters and she lands on his back.

Silent Waters tries his best to glean any changes to the familiar face of LuLove. Just in case. Can't be too careful around the fey.
Silent Waters looks at Lulove, but sees nothing physically different.
Sure she breathed fire and changed her arm to something otherworldly in that battle, but other than that she was completely normal.
Ronin
Rum puts their hands up towards their other party members. "Slow down, damn! Okay. So-" They sigh. "Yeah, we know this little dragonkin, known her for a while. But, you're actin' weird. Did... How's your dragon?"

"Oh my dragon. Well, I actually went to the drakkens....I know you guys said I shouldn't, but I just wanted to check. Apparently they have some new guy on the dragon now.....I might ask him if I can go with him to see my dragon but uuuh."
Lulove
"I'm just a little scared they'll kidnap me, you know?!?! Again....."
Ronin
Ronin leaned over and gave the dragonkin a small pat on the head. "Yeah, I know kiddo. But you seemed to be doing something fierce there! I'm proud of you, I'm glad you've perked up, Lu."
Keira
"True, though it must be suffering for a dragonkin to be so far from their dragon." The queenzabeth says, tilting her head to the side while her ear twitches in the air. "No wonder you're drinking so much."
Everwood
Everwood tries to glance at the arm to see if it needs any medical attention. That sort of major transformation of flesh was...

"I hope you're alright, dear. Are you? If not, I'm more than happy to help you out as best I can!"

"Yeah! Things have been really looking up lately!" She pauses. "I mean, of course after that thing with the freak in the basement....."

"I stole some really high quality booze. People don't even think about me when I walk around places cause they think I'm just any old servant. Look. Apparently the Biermann family dropped a shipment recently." She says, showing off the bottle in her hand. "If you want, I can show you where I got this and we can steal some more. We're more like rats to vampwelfs like this than we are people!"

The bottle is examined quietly for a moment. This conversation seemed far more personal than something she should just barge into. Instead, she watches the arena around her and adds bits now and again.

"They are not kind, back there. That much I can say, dear. Please do not harm yourself trying to steal things, hm?"

"...And don't let anything with fangs bite you if you do steal. It hurts."

"...I suppose I would be drinking too after someone I knew died, though. Just, don't overdo it too much, yeah?"

Lulove rubs her neck. "I uuuuh....." She bows her head in apology. "I've never drank a day in my life, until now! That much I can remember! But yeah. I just decided to pick it up...."

Lulove slaps the top of her head. "Dang it! I was trying to memorize everything that happened, ok, but it's hard! There's so much in a life!" Lulove drops her drink and scrambles up a tree with ease. She rests on a branch and kicks her legs out.

Keira sets her peeled banana down and gently shakes Silent Waters back. "Please don't do this."

Her face changes into that of Lumii. "I could be that mad scientist who puts people's bodies in freezers!"
Seizing Bird
The beast explodes into feathers, flapping its flickering wings. "Squawk! I could be a funny little bird that was taught how to speak its name to anyone who asked! Squawk!" The seizing bird grabs the booze with its talons and takes a chug as it transforms again.

There are multiple shifting shapes the fey turns into before it settles on Lulove. "Or maybe I'm just your good friend!"

"I don't like either of you! I smell....something terrible emanate off of you two when I'm Lumii........and it's not the smell of a fey!"
Lulove
"If I took your names....I feel something terrible would happen. So unless you're going to give me something better, then I reject this battle!"
Flower Trove
"If you don't give them a chance to win their friend's name back....."
Flower Trove
"Then I will chase you down and rip the name out of you myself."
Flower Trove
"If you win, you will have won the name fair and square, how about that?"
Lulove
Lulove looks into the woods, pondering if she could outrun Flower Trove, but everyone knows that if you try to escape, Flower Trove will find you.
Fey of Mourning
Even the powerful fey of Mourning couldn't escape.
Lulove
"This isn't fair to me! But fine! I know I can win this!" She leaps down into the arena. With another swig, she hisses. "You're messing with a powerful fey I hope you know. This is your last time to run!"
Lulove
"I'm sorry for being so mean by the way, normally I'm a chipper fella, but I have no respect for this name I've taken. She stabbed me, and I have just stabbed her back, in new ways."
Lulove
"I'd let you live, but it seems Flower Trove wants to see BLOOD!"
Ronin
Ronin looks to Silent Waters. "I'm doing this. But, aye, man. If something happens, just know you've been my best friend. So let's try to continue to be and stay alive, yeah?"
Ronin
"Let's go fucking kill a fey."
Silent Waters
He gives a solumn glance back. "The same to you. Let us stay alive."

"And as for the fey...."

"Are you powerful? Perhaps."

He raises a claw. "But for a beast like you, sometimes one must break the Peace to claim back what is not yours to take."

"What a horrible fate you all have run into. You and my companions. I can't...judge either side, for it is not my position to do so. This is your story. I will not taint it so! I will not be joining the fight, but once this is over, I will gladly tend to the wounds left."

"Please do not die. I can't see another torn apart today. Though it's just a name, surely you...you won't...even..." She dissolves into mutters.

Keira is fidgeting and panicing, looking back and forth as her cool completely breaks.

"It's a shame....we could have been friends, and in time there would have been no difference between me and her......"

"Fey of Loneliness, you ruin every friendship you slither into!"

"It ain't my fault! I try so hard!"

"I try to look like the perfect friend for people, and then there's just one slip, and now I'm being judged! "Who are you" "I don't know who you are anymore" Even when they don't realize I'm a fey, they hate me!"

Lulove holds her head. She screams in anger as she remembers Comet. "Whatever! The fey of loneliness will take as many bloody names as he wants and still fail to find a place of his own! It's in my nature!" She says blindly charging, claws out.

Keira panics, flying off out of the arena out of fear.
Silent Waters
"Ronin, do what you do best! I'll take the fey for now." Rat_King prepares to clash, his own claws drawn and at the ready, prepared to strike back whether or not her distractions succeed.

Ronin gives a massive cackle, and opens their arms and wings wide in a cocky flourish and baiting them forward towards the banana peel. "C'mon, Fey. Let's play, I know the dance of loneliness. You don't know who you are, but I know what I am. I've lived with and within it. So let's play."

"Or are you so, so afraid of facing yourself?"

"Of course I'm scared of facing myself! What reasonable fey isn't!?!" Lulove screams during her charge, focused on Ronin.

She was so enraged by Ronin's taunt, that she slips on the banana peel on the field. The feys up in the stand laugh at her as she struggles to get up. She hears them talk about how she is supposed to be an "Oh so powerful fey" and how "pitiful" her and her story is. She holds back tears as she hears one onlooker say "who would want to be friends with such a failure."

She may have lost her advantage on the ground, but she was still going to defend herself!
IT'S A CLASH!
Ronin rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of +5. A 24 is rolled.
Silent Waters rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of +5. A 14 is rolled.
Lulove rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of -3. A 14 is rolled.

While Lulove is able to dodge Silent Waters with a roll, she hits the legs of Ronin and is stabbed multiple times before she can escape. The onslaught is even worse than what Lulove she had given herself in the basement. Instead of being mad at the enemy, she focuses on the crowd.
Seizing Bird
It changes into a seizing bird. It's wings aimed and vibrating at the duo. Attempting to confuse them. "Stop laughing at me! Did you know the pain I went through? Stealing a bird's name just so I could feel a little bit of love....only to have that owner lock me in a cage to sing him songs?"
Unnamed Child
But the crowd just erupts into more laughter. "Hahahaahahaah!!! Idiot! You're a fey, just LEAVE!"
Seizing Bird
"It's.....Harder than you would think it would be to do that. IT'S HARDER THAN POSSIBLE TO ESCAPE THE ONLY PERSON WHO LOVES YOU!"
Seizing Bird rolls a 20 sided die. A 12 is rolled.
Ronin and Silent Waters are blinded by the light! Their next attack is -5!

Ronin hisses harshly, and they may be blinded, but you know who isn't?

Sorrowful eyes stare down at the scene. As if just the fight itself brought physical pain to her. When you have not love, what do you have?

"...Ignore the crowd, all of you! Focus!" She shouts down to all three.

"You're opponent is still there! Everyone's still there where they are! Please, dears! CAREFUL NOW!"
Silent Waters
Silent Waters scrambles back briefly, covering their eyes as they whistle in kind for their gogopet to strike. If a creature is what this fey wishes to be, then let tooth meet claw, and metal wheels grind against flesh.
IT'S A CLASH!
Rat rolls a 20 sided die. A 9 is rolled.
Gogopet rolls a 20 sided die. A 19 is rolled.
Seizing Bird rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of +8. A 14 is rolled.

The seizing bird grabs rat and throws them out of the arena. By the time it lands, it doesn't notice the speeding gogopet that slams into it, rolling it into the grown. There's a horrible CRACK as its wing is broken.

Lumii
It changes to Lumii, and pleads to Flower Trove. "What sort of SHAME of a battle is this? Four against one? There was even a fifth before it fled!"

"You're suppose to be a powerful fey, are you not?"

Rat, using it's [gliding] wings turns into the air, landing back into the arena.

Silent Waters
"What's the matter, Fey of Loneliness? I though three fey was nothing to you."

"Four is bigger than three. It's basic math."
Silent Waters
"And unity is stronger than solitude. Let us end this, Ronin." Rat_King raises his claws, ready to clash against the vampwelf once more.
Silent Waters
"Are you so weak you would be ground to the dirt by a toy?"
Lumii
"Fine....Then maybe I will make my ONLY friend a part of my team!" Lumii says, holding up his bottle. "After all, we're a little wet from booze that spilled in here."
Unnamed Child
"MAYBE IF YOU'D BE BETTER AT WINNING IF YOU STOPPED IMPLYING YOUR NEXT MOVE!"

"That does make sense..."

There's a mad laugh bubbling from Ronin as their pet lands back next to them. "All is fair and love and war, and I now know both. So please-" Ronin nods towards Silent Waters.
Silent Waters
"Let us do this together." Silent Waters nods, charging the fey with his claws.

With a puff of his breath, Lumii sets the entire group ablaze. Lumii grins as he watches the animals flee as they try to escape the heat. He assumes that the owners must have been taken consumed by the blaze but.....
The two stand in the blaze, nearly untouched by it.

Lumii backs away in fear. "FLOWER TROVE. STOP THE FIGHT! THESE TWO.....THEY'RE MONSTERS BEYOND ANYTHING ELSE WE'VE SEEN!"
Flower Trove
Other fey in the crowd mumble to each other, uneasy. Flower Trove looks to the Fey of Mourning for guidance.
Fey of Mourning
It grabs the Unnamed child and simply says. "Never seen clockworks that don't burn in fire before."
The whole arena erupts in chaos.

Feys jump over each other to escape. Flower Trove tries to ask them all to be orderly, but there's nothing more a fey fears than something that eats the dead.

Lumi tries to climb the ladder of the arena but the gogopet had broken his arm. His healing may have been rapid, but he still needed a few minutes to heal. "BACK! BACK AWAY YOU MONSTERS!......Flower Trove! Please! Please help me! Don't let me die forever from these.....these BEASTS!"

Rat_King scrapes his claws against each other, the loud screeeech of metal ringing out against the Arena as he slowly approaches the Fey of Loneliness, ignoring the flames licking at his face, chuckling as he does. The pain is intense, but he pays it no mind. They have a fight yet to win.

They brandish their silvered dagger and open their wings, pushing themselves forwards through the remaining flickering flames towards the Fae of Loneliness, following with Silent Water's steps.

Lumii fights back against the two burning clockworks. Adrenalin rushing through him he grabs the spear that was used against him before as a defensive weapon, stabbing them anytime they get close. He looks at the blood that drips off them as if it were acid. "See! Many holes in you now! How about we call this off! A tie! No need to eat me, no need for more fighting!"

Poor 'Everwood' practically falls into the arena, scrambling to the group as she frantically plucks her medical pack up.

"Who's hurt? Stupid question, you're all hurt-" An eye is cast to Flower Trove. "I-I'm here to help! Not to fight! I'm, I'm a vet! I help...I help heal things! Are you all alright? Where does it hurt? M-may I help them...? All of them. Everyone here."

"The name still belongs to me. You two would have died in fire if we kept figh-YELP-" Flower Trove jumps in the air and kicks Lumii back to the ground.

Up in the trees Kenshi had been watching, preparing to rush in and sacrifice herself in case her friend had done anything he couldn't come back from. Yet in the flames she realized that different type of fey had already taken the name of her friend. She simply watches the whole thing, before flying back to her companions.

Silent Waters sighs, part out of sudden exhaustion and part out of pain. "Agreed. I, for one, would not wish to stay in this pit."
