You were invited to meet up with the Creator to discuss the upcoming deadline. The machine you followers have been working on was due just tomorrow, and yet its completion in time was dubious at best.

Clockwork beasts gathered around a circle drawn on the ground. They were waiting for something, and you hoped it wasn't you.

The Creator
The Creator appeared behind you. Scaring you by placing a hoof on your shoulder. "I must thank you for all the work you have completed. But I fear it isn't enough."
The Creator
"Two heads of Existence and their demon bear down on us. We must have this machine completed soon. Production must go up."

"Fantastic. You're getting the picture now. I was almost worried we'd have to get drastic."

A lancelot is dragged into the circle by a few people. They quickly escape afterwards. There's a small chime, a signal that a feast is to begin. The clockworks rip apart the lancelot on the spot, splitting it among themselves and shedding metal, much like the one the machine gives for art, onto the floor.

When the attack is finished each clockwork drags itself back to its own corner, and watches the cleaning crew collect the metal and cleanse the area of blood.

"I had hoped we could avoid the ritualistic sacrifices, but these are desperate times."

"Fantastic, little meg, gather up the ugliest of them all and bring them to the circle. Let them be culled and their flesh fed!"

You ask both if you can honor the dead, as well as about these failed machines before you.

"Hmmm you want to honor the dead?"

"Well I suppose there is no harm, especially if this makes it easier for you to accept their death. I was going to demand that every scrap of them left behind must be sent into one of my failed machines, but I suppose as long as you are dedicated the minimal amount of loss from honoring the small parts not eaten shall be fine."

"As for those machines, they are wonderful, don't you think so?"

"Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of poverty, have become corrupted! They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a lamb!"
