Adras had been hard at work these past few days, working in the background of the Poetnix's room on a speech worthy of a grand conquest of the universe. While he had never thought of himself as a writer worth such a grandiose opportunity, he had relished the opportunity and enjoyed the challenge a good bit.
At the very least, he'd get the chance to prove that the past 20 years spent training with the Poetnix hadn't been for nothing.
There was just one problem, though.

As he kept working on it, he started having second thoughts about the tone. These doubts continued festering even more as the "heinous" plot of the Creator was slowly uncovered.
Admittedly, he had definitely been greatly influenced by having been living with limbo gods for the past couple of decades, but...
...Was this not something to celebrate? If anything, was it something more solemn? Should he have been focusing on writing towards victory, or towards finality?
Brooding about it was something he could do, sure, but realistically, when writing for a commissioner, the thing to keep in mind is their opinion. So why wouldn't he just ask? He'd bring up his thoughts, and ask the Creator himself what exactly it was he wanted. In his experience, the gods tended to just be people, after all.
And so he exits the elevator, ready to meet with his commissioner.
The Creator before him is nothing more than a tech jockey. He is rerouting wires and tying them up for better organization.
When Adras walks out, he is quick to wrap up his work. "Adras......"
("Why does it feel like he's always looking for excuses to get out of plugging in this computer?")
"How have you been doing? Are you done with my speech?"
Just a person after all.

"Oh, great, actually!"
"Hope you haven't been having to deal with too many protestors lately."
"I actually came here to talk about the speech, I'm practically 80% done, so you can look at it if you want, but I wanted your thoughts on it. Mostly just, I guess, what you thought about, well, this whole thing."

"Of course I wouldn't have my speech done without proof reading. The Poetnix has already handed me a dribble of a speech before, I won't have that happen again."
Adras silently hopes whatever the Poetnix gave him wasn't their first draft of the speech and then opts not to comment on it.
"Yeah, see, how do I...? How do I put this..."
"I've been sort of working towards this being your Big Moment. In a sense, a bit like bragging, I'd suppose. Declaring victory, and what not, but recently, specially after I heard about some of the protestors coming up here lately I've been having second thoughts."
"I suppose I shouldn't just sweep under the table everything that's happened to get this far, right?"
"I guess, write something a bit more solemn. Achieving Heaven thanks to sacrifice. I wanted to ask you what you thought about how everything's been going lately before really finishing the speech."
"Is this not wearing you down a little?"
"Of course it has. The protestors are an annoyance that know what they want but don't understand it's not what they need."

"Like children begging for cookies when they need a real meal."
"Don't think about the protestors. By the time it is for my speech, they shall be calm. Heaven shall be here. Think of it as a speech, for a single person."
"Me."
"That's fair. I was trying to understand both points of view since I felt I was in a good position to try to bridge the gap and was getting slightly into my own head."

"In trying to understand the idea that "trauma was a good thing", I sort of also understood my own thoughts on why I think "losing loss" really isn't, so I guess it wasn't completely a waste of time."
"Really funny phrase anyways, I had to stifle a chuckle when I first heard of it."
"But still, specially more so since I'm gonna move towards writing specifically for you, do you just want the grandiose victory of it all?"
"I guess I'm hoping you aren't going to head into an infinity of years of Heaven with a bad taste in your mouth."
"Those reasons are why I don't want their input in my speech. I don't even want to humor the crude idea that trauma, danger, and death are necessary in a perfect world. Only in a corrupt world is all of that needed for the race of evolution and species."
"Cultures kill cultures. Species kill species."
"Right?"

"It was really tough for me, considering I've been living the past 20 years essentially just writing. The only way I managed to make it make some amount of sense was in that one phrase about how 'One can only really appreciate what they have once they have lost it.' "
"I guess it's sort of being scared that without loss, value also loses meaning too."
"But then I thought about it a bit more and then I realized that it really does sort of seem like speaking from a position of trauma."
"There's no reason why you can't have good without bad, that argument is really just trying to justify past hurt."
"That is the traumatic experience talking, yes. People often compare happiness to coins. Happiness cannot exist without sadness. This is untrue. A child playing in a field of flowers is not "non feeling" because all he has felt is joy."
"It is more like water and fire. Water can exist without fire, and fire without water. They are opposites, but they can live in a world without each other. Good and Evil."
"People are often trapped in their minds in the idea of "two." There must be good and evil, happiness and sadness, life and death, power and weakness."
"The list goes on for, oh, about six more lines?"

"Some would say it's seven, but I assure you, that seventh one is irrelevant. "Non godly", a black sheep as they would call it."
"I'll remove the bad, and we'll only be left with the good."
"Personally, godly or non godly are really just labels. For all it matters the non godly's just as fine for having reached where it is on its own merits."
("Life, Sound, Power, Future, Peace, Generosity, Known, Union.") The Creator whispers as he wraps an arm around Adras.
("You get my drift.")
"I catch your drift, yeah."
"Personally, if what people are really missing is the struggle, all they have to do is move on from external struggles to internal struggles."
"I went from being worried about what I was going to eat tomorrow, to being worried about how I was going to better my writing."
"It's going from "How am I going to pay my taxes" to "I should practice to win that tournament coming up" "
"Or I guess, moving on from "I want money so I can get a car so I can save time to use for my own life" into "I should pretty myself up to get the attention of that gal across the street." "
"Exactly! In Heaven your struggles turn from "How will I get food?" to "Which food shall I eat?" Many do not understand!"

"I tell them, over and over, you can have a hobby in Heaven! You go to the movies in Heaven. What do they think I'm going to make? A pitch black room with all of them in it? If I wanted that, I'd murder them all right now!"
"It's real fulfillment. No longer surviving, but living, in my opinion."
"It's not like the world's just going to go gray the moment you get a longer lifespan."
"Take it from a species that lives relatively longer than most others, Life continues giving."
"These idiots, they think that removing sin, removing the ability to do Evil removes the ability to do anything! They go on and on about their choice!"
"I'm just changing your choice so that between riding a bike, talking to a flower, watching a movie with friends, and burning down your neighbor's house after stealing their money to hide the evidence....."
"YOU WON'T CHOOSE BURNING DOWN YOUR NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE, YOU IDIOTS!"

"Honestly, it's really strange for me to think that before these years I spent with you guys, I might have genuinely considered Death to be the better alternative. If I had to name one downside, really even a single one. it would just be the vistas and terrains we've lost with those planets."
"But at the same time, what's stopping us from taking matters into our own hands after the fact? Why can't we make beautiful views on our own?"
"Viewpoints are varied and wide, I don't particularly believe in the idea that ideas and forms can only be made in specific circumstances."
"Honestly man, I'm just hoping you aren't letting the atmosphere get to you."
"At the very least..."
"This is not even how Heaven will look like!"
"People just keep assuming this, even though, over and over I say-"

""This is just a means to an end." "This is just how I get all of you in one place." "This isn't the end of it." "No, ZooCorp isn't the end of it all.""
"...I'm honestly sort of mad at myself I never considered what'd happen to ZooCorp after everything was over."
"And yet these people cannot hear me for some reason! They look at the city and go "Ah this Heaven is horrible." I agree! Holy God in Me, Do you THINK my Heaven is so boring?"
"Look at that thing!"
"Chitter. 8}"
"Do people really think that thing will live in a city."
"Tailmics and their family do well in cities. :D"
"Look the iguanas aren't here right now, but you know what I mean."
"Fair point."
"Either way, I think I'll be a little frank, now."
"I was worried about the speech itself, but trying to think of what you were feeling right now was sort of..."
"Making me worry about you a tad? I was hoping you weren't getting too worn down."
"Hope you don't mind me being a little sheepish here."
"I wanted you to know that regardless, you have saved my life. Even beyond the whole, "Turns out The Sleeper eats lucevians" thing."
"Just these few years I've been able to spend writing have given me more than plenty to be thankful of."
"And I guess I'll have plenty more to be thankful of in the future, too."
"So uh,"
"W-well... cough cough"
"This is for you."
"I was sort of agonizing over what to give you as thanks for everything, originally it was going to be a poem but I remembered you're not super into those."
"Hope you don't mind, I just wanted to tell you that you do have people in your corner."
"Oh a gift for me? How kind!"
"I don't think I've been given a gift in a long time."
"All of this wears on me, but it's nothing new. As a limbo god this is just how things go."
"Usually, I don't focus on the "whole of it all." I tap away at specific planets and the such, but I saw an opening when I encountered an odd event. A limbo god humbled and calm."
"This universe has been particular. Very strange. The gods are not mighty and easily calmed."
"Sometimes even I enter a universe in a state of rage, unable to put my thoughts together. When you live for many universes, sometimes you spend a whole one being in a snapped state. Angry."
"I can imagine it'd be tough, yeah."
"Are all universes as unkind to you guys?"
"At the very least I'd hope some wouldn't have the main universe wide religion be dedicated to hating you, per say."
"Even in those universes, terrible things happen to you. Even gods who are LOVED are equally HATED."
"Millions of voices asking for help, and spitting at your name when you cannot. "Why did god allow me to get ill?" "Why did god kill my father?" Popularity is not inherently wonderful. Often it is horrible."
"...Yeah, when you put it like that, I can imagine anyone would get tired of the constant chatter, one way or the other."
"Gods are people. Just very powerful people."
"That, they are."

"Even if the other gods think that they are above me!"
"Anyway, enough of the drab! Let me open this gift."
The Creator pulls the top of the gift, but it doesn't budge. He pulls even harder before attempting to get his hooves under the lid. "Huh?"
"What is this?....." No matter how much the Creator tries, he cannot open it. He places a hoof on its top and looks at Adras. "Do you even know what this is yourself?"
"Well, I know what's inside the box, I don't particularly know what's wrong with the box itself. To be honest I never tried opening it after I made up my mind to get you something and closed the lid."
"I got it from what I assumed had been a normal store."
"I think the Poetnix has a book of descriptions of the universal items around here." The Creator shuffles through the books on a shelf before pulling one out. He points the book at the box, and the pages flip automatically.
"838
Anomalous Gift
A special gift that can never be open by the creator, nor any prying eyes. Only when the gift has been delivered to its intended target will it be able to be opened. Be warned, its anomalous nature often causes it to go missing in transit, so it's often not worth the chore."
".............................................."
".............................................."
"Hoo hoo hoo! What an amazing machine! Specially designed for me! I believe this may be the best gift of them all."
"A machine just for me!"
"Finally, even a puzzle I can't solve."

"Yet."
ADRAS FELT GENUINE TERROR FOR A FEW MOMENTS BUT WE WIN, WE WIN, WE'RE SO BACK.
"I'm so glad you like it."
Adras considers hunting down that shop that got him the gift box to thank them later. Wow.
"I will say, if changing my name causes me to be able to open it, I'll be at least a tad disappointed."
"It can't be that simple, right?"
"Either way, I thank you. This conversation has been enlightening, and your gift wondrous. Thank you for this all. I have a feeling I'll be carrying this gift with me for awhile."
"Thank you, for understanding. You're a glimmer of Heaven in all this horror."
"Any time. Would love to chat with you again, if the opportunity presents itself."
"I hope everything turns out alright. You should treat yourself kindly, I think."
"I think I'll be heading back to finishing that speech of yours, then."
"When this is all over. I'll treat myself like a king, don't you worry."
"Don't worry too much about the speech. I'm starting to realize that maybe I don't need one."
