DRAKES AND DUNGEONS
[Omori OST: Splintered Sweets in the Castle (Extended)]

How did such a strange gaggle of character end up in this group is unknown. Each one was more different than the next in their oddity. Perhaps it was just desperation to not look like they were alone at an event.

They decided among themselves where to go from a list.

There was a robot offering hints.

A library past a book styled gate.

The center stage where some play was likely being held.

And a stall offering an amazing new technology.

It seemed rather obvious to Knight- He needed a party for his adventuring. All good adventurers have parties.

Mia does a little bow. Gant stays silent. Seems like someone's been bribed to stay calm today.

"...don't mind the vacuum."

Cyb pushes it along, being told to carry it with.
Solstice
Solstice tries to hops onto the table! "VRRR VRRM! VRRRRRRM"
Solstice rolls a 20 sided die. A 9 is rolled.

Solstice bumps into the table. A single plate of Mac and cheese falls to the floor, shattering.

"..." For fuck's sake.

Cheater is devastated.

"VRRRRRRM." Solstice vacuums it up! Yummy!

"Okay? I know this isn't a game or anything but I'm still an adventurer. From what I've been told adventurers are like interns but with more kleptomania. Also I'm 27 years old."

"But if you need help with anything, we can help! If not, we'll move on. -^-"

"Don't need help with anything. I can get whatever I need myself. It's my thing."

"I suppose if you're hungry you can have the rest of the mac and cheese."

Knight looks at the mac and cheese on the floor.

THERE'S MAC AND CHEESE ON THE TABLE BUT OK.

While the novan is processing the vacuum, the goat accepts the offer and eats itself a plate that wasn't ravaged yet.

"I'll pass on the mac, can't really eat cheese, but do you have any earthy roots and veggies?"
Abyssal
Abyssal bites down on the top of her capsule and tries to pry it open. She has no questions.
Abyssal rolls a 20 sided die. An 18 is rolled.

The capsule opens!

Abyssal
She has done it. Her child will not go hungry today.
Mia
Mia notices Abyssal open the capsule. "Oh, dear, how nice!! Congratulations... is this really what is inside these things?"
Mia
"(I should probably open up the one I have at home sooner or later then, shouldn't I...)"
Abyssal
"Pow poow pow." Abyssal respond in kind to Mia, softly holding in against the plush gwech.

Knight notices the rest of the mac and cheese and grabs some to go. "I think we're going to head to the library, then, it seems neat. nice meeting you, mr robot guy! -^-"

Knight starts heading off towards the library, just sort of expecting everyone else to follow.

Cyb will give a curt thanks before following the group.

"...I thought we'd be going on adventure or some shit like that, what about a library?"

"Research, sir! Research!" Mia does follow beside the notail!
Solstice
....Solstice is offended by the bowl! But decides to follow the notail. He will get his revenge.
Abyssal
Abyssal slowly gets up, noticing her friend heading off, and following along after knight with a little limp.
The group heads off to the library. At the front desk is a roximur that is currently speaking with a client.

"Can you speak limblish?"

"Oo aahaha ahh ooh."

"Clearly not......."

"Hi! Do you need help with something? -^-"

Knight just kind of inserts themselves into this situation, walking up to the weird man and his monkey.

"VRO VROO VRAAH RVAAH VROOHVRMM" Solstice tries to communicate with the monkey!
Knight
Knight's attention is briefly stolen by the vacuum. He nods along as if he understood perfectly. (He doesn't.)

"I am being framed for kidnapping."

"And I have to take care of this child I didn't kidnap."

"That sounds pretty serious. I'm an adventurer, though, and adventurers deal with serious business all the time! Anything we can do to help? Who's framing you...? -^-"

"Anyway, we can go talk to the birds for you, if you want! I get really weird vibes from you but returning a child to their home is super important. -^-"

Solstice bumps into Barley again, but more harshly. Oh noooo would you look at that a card with exactly 15000 points fell out! Would be such a shame if someone were to grab it and trade it for a blockmon oh noooo.

The goat stares at the book as Gant hands it to Mia. Uhhh, this is awkward.

Cyb instructs Mallon Arms to look for any secrets with [Secret Finder].

The mallon opens a locked door in the back. Inside it are special books.

It says "EMPLOYEES ONLY" on the door.

"I want a book about dragons! ;)"

"But her mom said no. I don't even know who her mom is but I don't want to upset her."

"There's a lot of books about dragons in here though, it would make it easier."

Mia slides the book they found to the child while everybody looks away.

"Thank you for the book, Missy! ;)" Vodka runs off to a table to read it.

Knight's attention is drawn to the employees only section. His adventurer senses are tingling.

"Oooh...I don't know why someone wouldn't want their kid reading about dragons. When I was little my mom would tell me all sorts of stories about dragons and gods. maybe we'll just...take a peek in this weird place right here and see if there's a cool storybook around. i'm sure it'll be fine. -^-"

Knight heads into the employees only section. That sign can't stop him because he can't read! He starts looking around for the coolest looking book.

"Hey, where are you folks going?" Barley follows the group as they head into the employee's only room.
Cyb
Seeing the lead go into the employees section, Cyb keeps an eye out for any danger. Just in case.

And a book about a raven.

Knight goes after Drakes and Dungeons first, the allure of loot too much for him. He decides to crack it open and see what it's all about.

Abyssal slowly hops along after the group, watching curiously as they open up a safe...

Solstice follows along, sucking up all of the dust along the way.

Cyb searches for any keys or codes to unlock the guarded items.

Knight opens the book of Drakes and Dragons.....but it was the worst possible book he could have picked. As soon as the book is opened a fearsome dragon pours out of it.

It twice as big as any of them, and as it inhales the gas pocket in its back does as well. Heat builds up in the small room. It is preparing to unleash a flurry of flames.

Knight stumbles back, grabbing for his axe. Despite the extreme danger he was very suddenly in he couldn't have been more excited. His destiny called for him.

Knight ditches his axe for the sword! Even better! He raises it aloft, and charges towards the dragon, running headfirst into danger to attack!

"THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. -^-"
Knight rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of +5. A 21 is rolled.

Before the dragon could unleash its flames, Knight stabs it in the chest, managing to stick the Lord's Voice between its scaled plates! The dragon rears up, only making it worse for itself and it assists with the tearing of its own belly.

"Mallon arms, protect Knight!" Mallon Arms will take the defend action on Knight.

The dragon shoots flames towards Knight, but the mallon jumps in the way!

Cyb rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of +5. A 13 is rolled.

The mallon is in flames.....And then something weird happens.

The mallon transforms...

The mallon turns into a !?@?#!?$

The !?@?#!?$ loses all of it's traits!

The !?@?#!?$ gains [Doomed]!

The !?@?#!?$ gains [Demoralizing]!

The !?@?#!?$ gains [Critically Damaged]!

The !?@?#!?$ gains [Traitor]!

The !?@?#!?$ gains [Owner Hating]!

REALIZING THE SHIT THAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING, GANT STOPS, DROPS EVERYTHING AND HOLDS THE DRAGON DOWN FOR KNIGHT IN CASE IT DIDN'T DIE YET. Seems that he's transformed for the occasion, too!

While he tries to hold down the dragon, such a huge and powerful beast fights against him, refusing to submit. After a struggle it pushes him to the side, still damaged, still with its belly ripped open.

Abyssal points at the dragon and gently pushes her plush gwech towards it. Ram the belly attack attack!

"Poow poow!"
Abyssal rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of -2. An 8 is rolled.

The gwech tries to attack but becomes distracted by the !?@?#!?$!.

Blood is cleaned up by the living vacuum cleaner. This has no effect on the battle but at least it's nicer in here!

With the mallon being.....no longer a mallon, Cyb goes to look for something else to defend their lead with.

Knight has no idea what that thing is but it's really ruining the vibe. "Nightlight! Attack that...weird thing! -^-"

Nightlight attacks the strange creature. Nightlight knocks it out! Nightlight stands tall and proud....before throwing up and passing out on the floor. Seems touching that thing was a bad move!

Moopster tries to peck at the dragon's eyes!

The dragon's eyes are pecked at. The dragon starts spitting flames wildly across the room!

The room is on fire!

GANT HAS A HARD TIME ESCAPING WITH A WHOLE DOG IN HIS HAND.

Abyssal grabs the raven book and tries to flee.
Abyssal rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of -5. A -3 is rolled.

Abyssal not only fails to grab the book, but is stepped on by the dragon. She is sadly exposed to the flames and unable to escape!

Abyssal
"Pow pow!" Abyssal cries out weakly.
Knight
"Oh oh, it's getting hot in here... Also a library is very flammable. Better end this quick! -^-"

Knight goes in for another attack with the sword!
Knight rolls a 20 sided die. A 4 is rolled.

Knight bravely holds the sword up and swings in an attempt to say Abyssal. But the dragon slaps the sword into the flames. It cannot see, but it knows the enemy is still within the room. It lets out another wave of flames.

Fortuna rolls a 20 sided die. A 5 is rolled.

But fails to hit anything.

Everyone in the room who hasn't escape is badly damaged by the flames set in the room!

Gant
Fire sprites included?! Wow sucks to suck.

"WHATTHEACTUALFUCKING."

Abyssal is knocked out!

Gant
"Fuckfuckfuckfuck. You, get out, I'm gonna do it again." Gant drops Cyb and tries to free Abyssal from the dragon's foot as well. This is chaos.

Moopster throws itself at the dragon trying to peck at whatever!

Solstice rolls a 20 sided die. A 15 is rolled.

The tubuchick is thrown at the dragon. The dragon falls back. It wildly claws at the air, unsure of where the enemy is. It hurts itself more than it hurts anyone else. The dragon is clearly on its last legs. A single blow more would kill it, surely.

Cyb
Cyb attempts to grab his Blade! He didn't steal this thing for nothing!
Cyb rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of -5. A 9 is rolled.

Cyb tries to grab the sword but the flames are too large. It blocks his attempts and he only succeeds in burning his hooves.

SHIT.

Well, he'll have to come back to it later. Inermi powers of running the fuck away, activate.

Solstice tries to vacuum up the sword for Cyb!
Knight
Knight, badly burnt, grabs for his axe- a far lesser weapon, but it'll have to do. He charges in to try and take it down for good!

"God, please, let this strike land true... -^-"

Knight calls on The Poetnix! Save the library, slay a dragon!

Knight calls for the help of the Poetnix...

The Poetnix heeds his cries!

Knights axe is transformed into a deep blackened metal, as if had been burned in the flames of god itself. Flairs of featherlike protrusions sharpen to a point raise out of it.

There will be no catch for using it.

This time.

Knight rolls a 20 sided die with a modifier of +10. A 30 is rolled.

Knight cuts the head clean off the dragon. Its blood smothers its own flames, putting it out in a poetic symbolism of its own death.

Knight stands over the dragon. The victor of the battle.

Gant
"...I'm fucking afraid of you, I'm gonna admit that."

Gant carefully pulls Abyssal out from the dragon's body. The tension isn't gone, he just feels like there's a new monster on the loose.
Abyssal
Abyssal dangles limply, her scarf and feathers charred.
Cyb
With no more fire, Cyb stops running and calmly picks up the Lord's Voice.

"Impressive."
Knight
Knight raises his newly blessed axe into the air and lets out a shout of victory, bathed in the blood of a dragon.

"You were always my favorite, Poetnix! -^-"
Knight
He blows a kiss to the roof, and looks down at the dragons corpse. ...Only one thing to do now, really, at least, according to the stories-

Knight cuts a bit more into the dragon's body to get to its heart, ripping it out, and lifting his face slightly to bite a chunk out of it.
Cyb
"...I am not paid enough for this."
Gant
Gant would like out of here now.

With heart removed and bitten into, the dragon's body turns to dust and flows out of the room, seemingly towards something.

One of the books in the open container was badly burned in the battle.

Fortuna flips a 2 sided coin. A 2 is flipped.

The book of drowning cannot contain its contents anymore, and opens.

A reward for the holy knight of the Poetnix!

Knight
Knight wanders over and gently scoops the arise up into his arms, before gathering up his other arise, too.

"This is the best day of my life. Alright, guys, I think that's a quest completed! We should take a break. -^-"
Cyb
"Yeah, I think a break is in order. I have some plans to draft..."

Cyb collects the error and Abyssal

Solstice follows the ashes! He needs to clean...
Solstice rolls a 20 sided die. A 10 is rolled.

Solstice collects some of the ash, but not much. He finds the ash surrounding Barley who is.......

Knight goes to see what's going on with Vodka and Barley.

"Woah. Vodka did you also slay a dragon? -^-"

"VRRRRM VRMMM!" Guts! Guts and blood! Yummy!

"This is an indie art festival, isn't it? How about a little project on the side?"

"I'm just going to ignore the organs for now. I don't want to know."

"Don't ignore the organs! I told you, there's something wrong with this kid!"

"No wonder the kidnappers abandoned her......"

Knight is very much covered in blood and guts himself. Runs in the family. "I don't see anything wrong with this. -^-"

"Oh, it's dead, I cut its head off and ate it's heart. -^-"

Barley closes the book of goats and picks up Vodka like he's handling a rabid animal.

"Anyway yeah let's get out of here. That's enough adventure for today. -^-"

"Oho? On the contrary, I wouldn't mind stayi-"

Gant also picks up Mia. She actually might be rabid.

"We're going home."

The group escapes the area.

Fan
"And for our final stop on the tour today is our amazing fully stocked library!"

The community manager opens the door to a room filled with guts, blood, and an employee backroom burned. He looks towards the roximur, wordlessly.

"Ee! Eee!"

Viscera and books fall from the shelves.
No one is typing.
