Cargo hit send. She expected Cowboy to respond right away as normal....
But then he didn't.

Cargo's heart starts racing. Cowboy hasn't replied to her. She tells herself to calm down. It's only been 30 minutes. He's a busy guy. Maybe he has his phone off. Yeah.

"No he's not mad at you. He's not mad at you!" This is what she has been telling herself for the last 5 hours. Cowboy has never been mad at her, why would he start now? But he could! Maybe the election scared him too, and he's forced to comfort her and deal with her shitty past and maybe this made him remember how much of a horrible person she is and how she doesn't deserve anything. She deserves to have everyone point a camera at her and laugh just like she did to everyone else SHE DESERVES IT and Cowboy is finally tired of her and hates her. Maybe someone learned about their relationship and it's over. It's fucking over. He hates her and is never going to reply. He got away from Yu and now he's realizing he shouldn't have to deal with her either. She knew it was a lie. She knew he was leaving forever, she should have stopped him and told him he isn't allowed to leave.

She pulls herself off the keyboard. Her body coats the room. No matter how many eyes she creates, she can't find something to distract her. Her room starts to feel like a cell. She reaches for art projects, only to recall herself. She even seeks safety in her "shell" but she feels like she's suffocating.
There's a knock at the door.

"Cowboy." She mutters, pulling herself together. Removing eyes and teeth she didn't need.

She knew she was overreacting. Cowboy lost his phone. That's all. It was that simple. She was going to open the door, and he was going to be there and everything would be ok finally. She doesn't checking through the view port, and flings open the door.

Cargo believes Aestus. She has to. Still she backs up, and places a hand on the front door, but it doesn't budge, Uno's hand holding it open. "Leave...."

Uno grabs Cargo's arm and drags her inside. "Sorry sis, you know the rules. I gotta deliver the bad news. It's my job!"

"Feel free to come in, boys! Don't worry. Sis might look scary at times, but she's harmless!" She sings, dragging Cargo to her own living room.

"She can only hurt you emotionally. Not physically!"

He's unsure how reassuring that actually is. He gives Uno a nod, following the others and avoiding eye contact.

"Yeah, sure... uh. Hey again, sis..." Siete forces a smile, stuffing his hands into his hoodie pockets and shuffles inside after Worm.
Nugget
Nugget grabs Aestus hand, and whispers to him. "Mom's sister is weird."
Aestus
Aestus whispers back. "I know, sweetie. But she's my friend! So let's be a little patient, yes?"
Nugget
"Ok...but we're going to have to be reeeeeally patient cause she only speaks a few words at a time...."
Aestus
He wants to say he knows, but Aestus instead gives Nugget a little ruffle on the head.

Cargo's eyes flick around the room. At these faces she didn't know anymore. At these people she didn't want to see. Uno forces her to sit on the couch and she cannot stop thinking about all the things these intruders are going to touch. She tries to remind herself there's something more important to think about right now, but she keeps her eyes trained on everyone's hands as if they were a pack of thieves.

"So I'll keep this simple, sis!" Uno says in a cheerful tone.

.......but there is a slight pause as Uno finds herself....a tad unsettled by the way Cargo looks around the room instead of at her. "Uh....Hey focus on me." Uno says with a clap that instantly brings Cargo's eyes to her with a jolt.

"Your husband's in the pens. That's what the Sun wanted me to tell you."

This was a nightmare. This was a nightmare she wanted to stop. Everyone commenting felt overwhelming. It's as if everyone was taking at once and yet she understood everything.

They knew that she was married to Cowboy........they even seemed to know about Cowboy's....situation. It was all falling apart. The word would spread. Everything would get distorted. Everyone would blame her, call her a freak, and who even knows if Cowboy would ever be allowed home even if he's allowed out of the pens?!

Ugly Fodder (Ugly or Fodder for short)
Subspecies: Pedigree Snail
Status: Alive and healthy, but has been affected by prolong contact with the blood of singularities due to past unsafe prepping methods.
Social name: Uno

Temperament: Extremely social and chatty. While she has the same fears many of her other siblings have, she counters this by focusing on the statistics of a situation. Is prone to "cheering people on" and praising them for even small successes. Is extremely touchy and loves touching shoulders or hugging people. Despite this her personality at her work is different. She tells humans about their upcoming death due to genetic failings and then moves on as casually as explaining the weather.
Genetic Future: Has four children. First three were handed over within months after birth due to an intense emotional low and infant rejection following their birth. All children were well taken care of despite of this. Forth child lives with and is taken care of by this snail and the child's father. Abnormal emotional event seems to have ended after a year. Snail has recovered and is now very pleased about their child. Outlook is bright.


Notes:

  • Has a non identical twin. Her relationship with this twin is abnormal. She does not seem to like her twin despite enjoying the rest of her family.

  • Becomes sadden when Neptune is in retrograde. (I am researching if this is a purely culturally caused issue or if there is logic behind this.)

  • Does not talk about her first three children. I am unsure why her 4th child is different, but it may simply be due to the fact that she has a partner assisting with the care for this one. First three children had no second caretaker around (All fathers do not even know they have a child by this snail. See files on "GreyHound", "Kithara", and "Princey Alex Bootsworthy" if research into the other three are needed.) thus this, with the hormonal changes, caused her intense stress.

  • Despite naming her Ugly Fodder, she has become one of my favorite offspring from my beloved snail to handle. Sometimes unexpected outcomes are cute in their own way.

  • She is still very ugly though and her newest child is one of the ugliest patterned things I've seen in the past few years. If children could be culled over patterns this would be one of them.
