It had been hours since the Mad Knight tossed Dorothy Volkairn into the dungeon. He had expected her to escape by now, but when he came back down, tourist in hand, Dorothy sat pressed against the corner of her cell, covering her face. "Huh....?"
Skeleton King
The Mad Knight sighed. Without using his keys he pulled the gate open and tossed the new prisoner in. "Sometimes, it takes you ladies a few days to learn....."

"Haha! Don't worry. I learn quick! I just need time to write down everything I've learned."
Skeleton King
"Mmmm not you." He grunts while closing the prison door and leaving.
Duchess Lorelei
"Nice to see you again Misses Dorothy! Sorry you didn't get married off. How are you doing?"

She looks at Dorothy's face, then brings her hand to her own, pulling down her smile to mimic the expression of the other. "Oh, you're scared? That really sucks. This is exciting for me, but I guess this is just your life. A nice girl like you shouldn't be scared." The Duchess says, trying her best to give off a somber tone.

"I can help you with that, you know? If you really want it, I can make it so you're not scared anymore." Duchess taps on her screen, trying to ignore the gaze of Dorothy.

Dorothy rubs her eyes. She knows Lorelei said she shouldn't feel much, but she carefully picks herself off the floor of the dungeon. "I know how. I wrote it down in my notes."

"Your family taught you how to write? Even as a woman?"

"Ah, well, not quite!" Dorothy turns over her clipboard to show off the small images she has drawn. "When I was young, my mother knew how to write and read, so I kind of always wanted to as well!"

"But, mother also told me that I should focus on other things. I tried to teach myself to write, but, well, that's hard when you can't read books.... I guess this is kind of my own language."

"Woah! I can't read any of this! I mean, I figured you drew, but what's that symbol over there? It looks like if a Y and a T had a baby!"

"That's a symbol for a vampwelf! The cross in the middle represents how big they are. I sort of based it off of, uh, I think you call it the T symbol?"

"I thought all the letters meant something...but I later learned from a stable boy that, well, T's don't mean nothing without the other letters. So the way I write, it's kind of every symbol is a word, or even a whole sentence." Dorothy sighs. "So no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't even get the basics right."

"My whooooole life is about writing what I see in this here tablet. I love it, cause when you write stuff down, moments stay there forever!"

Dorothy stands on her tiptoes in excitement over this. "Yes! Yes, you understand!"

"When my mother died, she left all the books she wrote behind......I was so sad, I asked the males of the household to read them to me."

"And it was like she was brought back to life in those moments. It may have been someone else who was reading them, but it was her words."

"She wrote quite a bit on immortality and people who come back to life. Some of her stories were so scary, the guys would stop reading, and tell me to burn the book when I had the time. I ended up selling the "bad books" to a merchant from house Elzenstein to protect them. Apparently her works are really popular over there."

"Maybe she knew that writing would make her immortal in a way?"

"It does make you immortal! My words are going to have an impact for years to come!"

"I'm not surprised they got scared of the books about people coming back to life. Necromancy is a major crime in vampwelf culture."

"Well, she was a woman who at one point didn't care too much about fitting in, I mean she was a writer after all!" Dorothy reaches over to the bars and, after wiggling them to make sure it was truly unlocked, pushed it open.

"The Mad Knight implied he forgets to lock the door, but he said it so obviously, that I'm not sure if this is a trap or not."

They ran into the woods until they could both run no more. Stopping at a clearing, Dorothy notices a strange creature in the distance. Something feels.....horribly wrong with it.

"Oh, that's not a unicorn. That uuuh, appears to be a horse! They're an extinct species of animal." And on those final words, an energy seems to shoot through the field. The horse turns its head to someone beyond the two.

The robot wheels its way up to the strange horse and places a hand on it.

"Oh man, I don't think he can see, OR hear you, Dorothy!"

"My friend Dorothy. She's a vampwelf! Uh, she's like, right here!" Duchess explains while placing a hand on Dorothy.

"Peon, you won't believe that the horse in front of you is real."

"Well, I heard some robots can actually work on this planet! I think this robot has the same funny stuff going on as my tablet!" Duchess turns her tablet around, showing off a picture of the dungeon.

THE ROBOT WANTS TO SAY SOMETHING BUT FEELS LIKE IT WOULD BE INTENSELY RUDE TO INTERRUPT WHAT APPEARS TO BE A CONVERSATION WITH THE WIND.

"Yeah, so a lot of people don't know this but vampwelfs like you can't actually be seen or heard by cameras, even by weirdo devices like my tablet and that Helios unit over there! It kind of makes them a real hassle on other planets or when trying to shoot them with auto targeting weapons, cause to a computer, there ain't nothing to target!"
