The sunkin is an amphibious animal with a robust sense of smell. During months where climbing trees nets them no food, they dive down to the bottom of shallow seas to grab corpses before slowly ascending back up. During their rise they enter into a motionless state, only clutching on to their meal. Many sailors have looked on in horror, as the sunkin's floating body on the surface of the sea is often confused for corpses.
