Barghest Station

Where is our happy ever after?

Information is the best weapon against anomalies, and workers in the archival wing are expected to take their job seriously. Anyone expecting a simple desk job is quickly set straight by the workload, as anomaly reports, supply logs, incident reports, interview transcripts and personnel records come in continuously, to be noted and stored appropriately. Digital backups are sent to an isolated server at the end of each day cycle, while a number of select files are printed out for physical storage. The sector is regularly patrolled as well, with use of force permitted against unexpected intruders.

Requirements for working in the archives are stricter than most of the station, as archivists are also responsible for collating information and writing up official reports when necessary. Late nights are the norm for these staff, lukewarm coffee cups sitting forgotten by their side as they read and type. All important company decisions require a veteran archivist to be present, as they are among the few who can claim to have some understanding of the complicated system of checks and balances that underlies the station.

Terminals across the station allow remote access to the archives, but most anomaly documentation isn't freely available, unless one is assigned to them. Managers and research heads, though allowed more access, are still strongly encouraged against browsing beyond their own area of responsibility, on the grounds of both keeping staff focused and preventing breaches.

Due to the commonality of certain traits across different anomalies, and thus the applicability of research beyond a singular instance, requests for information from the archives are sometimes received from independent bodies. These requests are treated carefully, and are typically granted only in return for a significant sum, as anomaly research is an expensive business, even considering the return some subjects provide through by-products or leasing.
