Coffee makers, entertainment systems, old couches and a sizable kitchen can be found in the Rec Room. The space is rarely empty, with personnel constantly coming in and out, conversing quietly around a table or watching shows and movies from past decades on a screen. Despite the efforts of cleaning staff, scrawled names and drawings can be found in the corners of alcoves or the underside of tables, left by previous workers. A pingpong table sits off to one side collecting dust, seldom used.

The mood in the room is casual, yet subdued. Beast handlers, extraction crews, researchers, and technicians all come seeking temporary relief from the daily grind, with little interest in discussing work or jockeying for status. Requests can be put in for new entertainment or furniture, chosen by popular vote every couple months when a new shipment is being prepared.

A number of simple foods are available in the pantry and fridge for cooking, to supplement the basic rations given to every worker. Cans of vegetables, mushrooms, sauces, jams, and meat stock are supplied in great numbers, as well as packaged rice, noodles, and other cereal foods. Powdered flavourings and dehydrated edibles are also a common staple. Creating tasty meals from the kitchen supplies is a quick way to make friends, but as the best supplies often run low, well-made dinners are a rare occasion.

Anomalies are purposefully excluded from the Rec Room, to allow employees some distance from their work. Some unscrupulous individuals use the space to trade anomalous by-products however, gaining favours or other goods in return. The company takes a practical view on such transactions, as complete prohibition would be unfeasible and only lead to exchanges being harder to monitor. A blind eye is usually given to various harmless gels, plant cuttings, crystalline fragments and so on, though possession of more volatile or dangerous materials is severely punished.
