Did you know?
What we call constellations aren't actually constellations. The images we make when we connect stars together are referred to as asterisms by astronomers! A constellation is actually a chunk of the sky that we can see. Think of it like puzzle pieces, each constellation is a piece that combines to create the entire celestial sphere. The constellations typically contain an asterism with which it shares their name, which creates this confusion.
I hope you learned something new today! Let's look out to the stars again tomorrow, I'll tell you something new!
