Field Report: ID #00000831
Location: 07:37, marine riser of pumpjack B
"We were too slow to stop blowout. Morning crew was working through signs of abnormal pressure in the central pump mechanism, trying to make up for missing yesterday's quota. Around 7:10, the riser lurched, before suddenly giving way to explosion - there was no time to set off the alarms. From the breach, a spectacle - a globs of burning oil came torrenting out, spilling thousands of gallons all over the rig and into the ocean. Nobody could breathe. It was everywhere. The anomaly squeezed its way up through the tower, hacking out globs and slithering out into the ocean, offering us no mind beyond another canvas for tar. The incident seemed more like an inconvenience to it than anything.
Management's sending cleanup to separate the slick from the surrounding ocean before it reaches the coast, reprocess it, and dish it out as a bonus. Said we're sitting on a gold mine, going to take months to milk this disaster dry. At least we're still getting paid."
