After the loss on the mountain side, Abyssal doesn't run after her friends. She and her wandettle stay behind. Watching Longfur train from afar.

As Longfur finishes up for the day, Abyssal finds that she has nowhere to go but to trail behind Longfur.......

But she is not alone. Other animals gather to follow as well, each with their own reason.

Solstice activates the sprinkler system. Everyone is now wet, but there is no fire. It opens the cages to all the animals.

Abyssal rubs her eyes., looking back to Poaw after they get out. "Abyssal not ok. Bad mom. Little baby baby blew up." She holds onto a piece of shell she picked up off the ground, looking down at it sadly, her ears drooping.
She just wanted to teach a little baby baby to be smart, even if she failed...but she didn't want her baby baby to die...

Abyssal looks up, trying to take in what is being said. She knows that word, the big moths use it for each other. The people use that word. "Arson.." She thinks hard for a long moment

"Big baby baby." She nuzzles the large creature as she's held, her arms too short to do similar for him...
Arson
Arson pats its mother on the head, just like she did to it before it finally decided to hatch out of the body it lived within. Arson doesn't understand much, and Abyssal didn't either.

But both of them understood they had each other, and that's all that mattered.
