Gods

The leos believe that by consuming the flesh of another, you are accepting part of their soul into your soul, and by feeding yourself to another, you are spreading your soul onto them. The leos believe that when their god, The Consumer, came into existence he created another leo out of himself. He then fed himself to that leo and became part of that leo. When more leos came into being, they all ate each other, and thus the original "god" leo exists in every leo alive currently.

Gods: The Consumer

Original Creator: Splendid

Physical Description

Leos are tall, colorful, and centaur-like in shape. They possess 4 short legs, 4 equally short arms, and a long, sweeping tail that ends in a poofy tuft of fur. Their pelts are often brightly colored and adorned with seemingly random marks. These marks are created when a leo's body part grows back after falling off; the fur always comes back in a new color from the leo's pallet. A thick, round, and often striped mane resembling an elizabethan collar separates their long torso from their head. Their face consists of 2 round ears, 4 small eyes, a nose with 4 nostrils, and a large maw packed full of teeth. Their nose, tongue, insides of their ears, pawpads, and often eyes match the color of the leo's blood. This blood color, which can be any color on the visible spectrum, varies with the flavor of the leo's flesh when ripened.

Leos are known for their ability to "shed" or "molt" their body parts. This process is called ripening, and is completely normal and painless to the leo. When a leo's body part becomes old and begins to wear down, or if it becomes damaged, the leo will gradually lose feeling in the area before it falls completely off. This leaves a clean wound which almost looks to have been sliced. Leo blood, which is normally liquid, coagulates into jelly when in contact with the outside.

The nutrient rich jelly quickly covers and seals the wound, and begins forming a new body part. The new body part will be translucent and very sensitive at first, gradually changing back to normal flesh and regrowing the fur. It takes less than 1 week for a leo to fully regenerate a large body part such as a leg.

If a body part has been properly ripened and allowed to fall off, it becomes an edible item that tastes sweet, and texture can vary from each individual leo. Leos are happy to eat this treat themselves or share with anyone who will eat it. Letting a piece go to waste is almost insulting to a leo, as they have given up a part of themselves for nothing.

Personality

Leos tend towards being a very friendly species, treating other leos and different species alike with respect, so long as it is returned. After all, leos see themselves as being part gods, and believe they should be treated as such. If leos are not treated as at least equals in any group, they may lose sense of any group mentality and may turn to only being concerned with themselves. However, they may lose morale. Though the leo will act independent and proud, it's important to them to feel accepted and needed in their "prides," or crews.

Leos think that a good established pecking order is imperative to most groups/crews. If a leo feels that the captain or leader isn't doing a good enough job, or that they could do better, the leo will commonly attempt to force the captain underneath them and take charge themselves.

History

Before the leos made it into space, they were peaceful on their home planet because there was no need to hunt and resources were plentiful. Being bold adventurers by nature, it was only a matter of time before the leos made it off of their home planet to see what else was out there.

Subspecies

None / Unknown.

Special

Sustenance: This character will produce half the amount of rations they consume every week. Rations are considered meat candy.

Relationships

Ariesa: The sun ariesa find the leo to be far too competitive for their peaceful ways, and will always politely decline any offers to consume a ripened body part. Doing such a thing is a completely foreign concept to the ariesa, and will be met with confusion and disgust. The moon ariesa view the leo purely as competition and will challenge any leo they meet without fail. The leo are seen as interesting challenges of strength, and must be taught their place on the TRUE pecking order, in which the moon ariesa reign at the top.

BVo9: BVo9 are seen as potentially dangerous, but manageable to leos, while leos are seen as loud (the good kind) and loud (the bad kind). BVo9 and leos share the same view on the need for alpha leadership, and as such, individuals of each species may try to draft members of the other species into local leadership disputes.

Gemimi: The leos and the gemimi have been friends the moment the leos landed on the gemimi planet. While some species are off put by how confident the leos hold themselves, the gemimi rather like this confidence, it appealing to their follower ways. The gemimis, who love to travel were a shoe in for the leos, who happily accepted the gemimis help.

When one sees a leo traveling among the stars it isn't all too uncommon to spot a gemimi traveling with them, carrying what they need, and overall just being a lackey to the leos. The leos aspect the whole puppetry business of the gemimi, but admittedly they just agree with whatever puppet works better in their favor at the moment, rather then take both puppets in to account. This also applies on a larger social scale.

Carcili: The carcili think the leo are too prideful for their own good, being smaller, weaker, but still convinced of their own semi-divinity. Some might even take unusual fun in acting strange when dreaming a leo, just to dent the pride of the candylion. On the other hand, a lot of carcili like the narcissistic bosses, and are willing to go along with their orders. Over time, this may develop into genuine respect - if the leo is actually as good as they brag. They appreciate the friendliness towards them, as many people hear bad things about the carcili and go into the situation with them assuming the worst, in what turns out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Virgora: The leos were overly excited to meet the virgoras, and once they heard that the virgoras wanted to leave their home planet, the leos picked up the virgoras and took them everywhere. Which was a bit of an issue when a virgora found a perfect home, only to be pulled along by the leos who assume too much and don't listen as hard as they should. Even to this day the leos attempt to pull virgora into situations without asking, which the virgoras will accept only because they find it hard to reject the excited leos.

Libraille: Leos are ready to do anything for a good cause, and the libraille greatly approve of this and normally assist them along the way. Libraille don't, on the other hand, like the fact that the leo species sees themselves as part god, and thus high and mighty. Even when the leos are doing the right thing the libraille may find themselves slightly ticked off about how the leos seem to consider themselves as better than other species. This and the fact that it's possible that the leos only do good deeds just for personal emotional gains, normally not caring for a situation when they cannot emotionally profit from it, gets in the way of the librailles conscious. But the librailles suppose that at least the leos are making the right choices, even if it's sometimes for the wrong reason.

Skokakrio: When the leos met the skokakrio they were warned time and time again to not get involved with the skokakrio. The leos were told that the skokakrio were agressive and picky by the sagittari who were, and still are, one of their greatest allies. Senator Farfletch notably warned the leos to little avail. The leos took this as a challange, and for the first few months relations betweens the leos and skokakrios were great. Then one day the leos sent a message to sagittari headquarters. "Actually I take it back. It was all true." After that "Farfletch was right" t-shirts exploded in popularity in saggitari-dominated settlements across the star system.

Sagittari: The sagittari and leo travel everywhere together. They both tend to want the same thing and the passion of the leos make the sagittari believe in their teammate when they want to do something. Sometimes the leos boost the confidance in the sagittaris so much, that the sagittaris attempt to do something that even the leos have to back away from. The sagittari will then find themselves confused and lost as the leos have jumped the ship ages ago and they're still rushing into an issue everyone has decided to not take part in. The sagittari tend to have no hard feelings about this though.

Kapricanus: The leos attempt their best to get the kapricanus to interact with the rest of the system, but the kapricanus being as stubborn as they are always reject any changes, which leos are always pushing for. When the leos first landed on the kapricanus planet to bring the kapricanus to the space age, the kapricanus sunk right back into their waters, possibly flipping off the leos as they did so.

Duckarium: When the leos met the duckariums they were in love. The absolute silliness of a bird wearing a pot on its head amazed them. They took the duckariums everywhere they went to show off how funny they were. Duckariums on the other hand think leos are amazing for being so confident and showing the duckariums to many species. Only later did they learn that this was because the leos found humor with them. The duckariums, while a little taken back, decided this wasn't bad at all because they still got a wonderful start due to the leos sense of humor.

Aqualisces: The leos and aqualisces have been battling each other on a mental level for a long time. While the aqualisces want to be more careful in their movements, leos want to start moving right away, deciding that whatever consequences they run into can be handled then and there, rather than expecting an issue to arise. Later on the aqualisces drive up in the metaphorical drunk taxi and haul their friend, who they're becoming quite tired of, back home.

Trivia

• Each leo's taste and texture is as unique as a fingerprint. They are always sweet, but can also be spicy, minty, or sour.

• Many leos enjoy making dishes and confectionery using their own body parts.

• If a body part is sliced or torn off, or otherwise forcibly removed, it does not have the same pleasant taste as if it had fallen off naturally and instead tastes overwhelmingly bitter. This is because the leo's body did not get the chance to convert the flesh into an edible substance. This also prevented Leos from actively eating each other alive in the past.
